What is Mareas?

Mission, Vision, Goals & Philosophy

The mission of Mareas International Home school Samara is to help our children to become loving, responsible, respectful and thankful adults who confidently share their knowledge and kindness with the community and lead meaningful lives.

The  vision of our school is to be nationally and internationally recognized as a bilingual school with an alternative educational project, where a high level of academic learning occurs because children are valued as unique individuals. Our method fosters a love of learning by taking into account each student’s own strengths and weaknesses. We strive to stimulate the mind, body and spirit of each of our students by engaging with the natural world, through art, projects, and exploration.

The school, created by parents, teachers and children working together, recognizes that the people in a community work together and support each other to realize their own potential for growth.

Our objectives are to:

  • Recognize each of our students as unique individuals.

  •  Create a comfortable, respectful atmosphere in which to learn.

  • Provide the best academic and social tools for each of our students to successfully pursue their higher studies, once they have completed our program.

  • Enhance the strengths and minimize the weaknesses of our students.

  • Develop well rounded scholars who are academically strong, artistically expressive, and are comfortable in the natural world that surrounds us all.

Each student at Mareas International Home school Samara is individually accredited by The Ogburn School Inc., which is an international fully accredited private school in Florida. The professionals at Ogburn review each student's work and allow us the freedom to use our own curricula and best judgment to help each student to grow and learn.

Our bilingual elementary, middle and high school progams use a mix of the Costa Rican standard curriculum for Spanish and Social Studies in Spanish as well as Math, Science, and Social Studies created by the very popular Oak Meadow School. Oak Meadow's curriculum is the result of over thirty years of experience with homeschooling parents and children. This program is the result of careful research into proven educational principles and the creative efforts of many talented curriculum developers. With our educational philosophy as our guide, our lessons are built on rigorous academic standards and are delivered with imagination and heart.

Our bilingual program offers a comprehensive, innovative curriculum that provides a solid foundation for the balanced development of your child. Designed to effectively address a variety of learning styles, the program works to support multiple learning styles while supporting the efforts of all children. We believe learning should be enjoyable and exciting and our lessons are written to engage every type of learner.

Our goal is to support your efforts in raising and teaching your child and facilitate the development of a rich learning relationship between you and your student.  Our bilingual program offers Preschool, Kindergarten, Elementary and Middle school programs from Pre-Kinder to 12th grade.
