An Interview With Lenina Araya, Our Founder
Hello! I haven't been feeling well lately, but today I'm feeling better so I'm going to write about what's on my mind. My name is Massimo, in this article I'm going to talk about what's new at Mareas and what happens in the area. I speak Spanish and English, I'm 13 years old, I'm in eighth grade. I like to go to the beach, play ping pong and play online. My favorite music is dubstep (electronic), I have good friends, I'm friendly, funny, my dog is named Marea and I have a brother and a sister.
Information: Mareas is a good school, with a different teaching style than other schools. For example, every morning grades 4-7 go for a walk, during recess grades 4 and up play ping pong, this month everyone is practicing for a show we're going to do at Rancho de la Playa on December 19, 2014.
Interview: I have interviewed Lenina Araya, the director and I asked her:
How did the school get started?
"It began when three parents wanted a different educational option for our children and so we thought why not start our own school. In the beginning we had only 3 students but by the time we opened we had 25 children enrolled."
When was the school founded?
The school was founded on September 5, 2012
How long did it take?
It took us 6 months to do everything
What educational method do you use?
We use the Waldorf method in that it deals with learning about nature, experimentation and art.
Have you thought about expanding the school?
Yes
What is your favorite part of the day?
The morning, because I love to greet the children with a smile.
